Programme overview
A 15-day hands-on Chikankari and embroidery course, taught by skilled women trainers in rural areas and the Haider Canal locality.
Detailed description
The Sansthan organises 15-day Chikankari and embroidery training for beneficiaries in rural areas and the Haider Canal area of Lucknow. Skilled female trainers introduce participants to traditional techniques and materials — Zari, Chikankari, Kadhaai, Murri, Chana Patti, Ghas Patti, Janjeera — and to threads such as cotton, Anchor, silk, coloured, and white thread. Learners work with crochet hooks and plastic frames so that the craft is learnt by the hand, not only by the eye. After the course, women and girls can embroider from home and earn. The programme joins two purposes: women’s economic independence, and the preservation of a craft that is part of Awadh’s identity.
Key highlights
- 15-day practical training by women trainers
- Traditional techniques: Zari, Chikankari, Murri, Kadhaai and more
