Detailed description

With the support of the National Child Labour Project, District Barabanki, the Sansthan operated a Special School for Child Labourers at Pure Makka, Development Block Siddhaur, District Barabanki, benefiting 50 children. A team of seven — two instructors, a vocational instructor, a clerk-cum-accountant, a peon, and a cook — provided education, vocational training, nutritious food, and a safe place to learn. Children received books, stationery, and meals. About 30 minutes of each day were given to sports. The school is one chapter of a larger effort: similar special child-labour schools have been implemented in Hardoi, Barabanki, Bijnor, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Firozabad, and other districts of Uttar Pradesh. The premise is simple and non-negotiable — a child belongs in a classroom, not at a worksite.
